Baby’s Gone to War
© 2005, Lisa McKinney
for Subrina
Working two jobs all her life, didn’t get to be a wife
Mother to a baby girl so sweet, tryin’, Lord tryin’, to stay off the street.
Now momma’s losin’ baby to the desert war
Baby’s got her uniform, but what’s it for?
Giving strength to her country so that she could learn
And the country says, “Momma, now Momma, you know it’s our turn.
We’re gonna take your baby to the desert war.”
Baby’s got her uniform, but what’s it for?
Easy chair generals say she knew she’d have to go
Can’t get something for nothing in this world below you ought to know.
Be a soldier, take your turn in the desert war.
Baby’s got her uniform, but what’s it for?
Momma’s losin’ sleep, soaking in her tears
Between teardrops she prays the Lord turn back the days and the years
Baby’s got her weapon, a private in the desert war.
Baby’s got her uniform, but what’s it for?

WHAT IF I HAD BEEN ON THE OTHER SIDE
words/music eD f
1) Wounded I fall to the ground
My body scorched from that great mortal blow
Like so many who fall all around
I feel defeat only the poor fallen know
Ch: (But I’d rather feel the whispering kiss
Of those songs in my lover’s eyes
Oh how they once soothed the unsteady beat
of this heart born more foolish than wise
---
2) So I crawl in retreat without pride
For those souls I took, I now feel shame
What If I had been on the other side
Would I feel Freedom or Greed was to blame?
CH: ( But I’d rather feel the whispering kiss
Of those songs in my lover’s eyes
Oh how they once soothed the unsteady beat
of this heart born more foolish than wise
------
3) So how cursed are the leaders of youth
Who proclaim with Just reason why
They send me to defend Phantom Truth
That gives them reason to Live while I die
CH: (Well I’d rather feel the whispering kiss
Of those songs in my lover’s eyes
Oh how they once soothed the unsteady beat
of this heart as I lay down to die

BLUE, RED AND WHITE
words / music eD f
Well, I was born blue, red and white
revolution gave me life
I screamed the shout heard round the world
On Freedom’s wind as I unfurled
////////////////////--- CH: ---////////////////
So hang me high,
Hang me low
Just hang me so
My stars will show
Salute me when War Angels call
but Don’t Curse me when
Hard times befall
/////////////////////////---/////////////////////////
Wrapped in stripe and crowned with star
Nursed upon the breasts of war
My tongue wrapped tight ‘round forked truth
Toward western shores I grew in youth
CH: ---/
A Wealthy child out on a spree
Rode shotgun right through history
Both me and freedom side by side
Spend the spoils, enjoy the ride
CH: -
Now the day of reckoning appears
As dawn awakes both fate and fears
My children cry for simple truth
Who’ll pay my debt to squandered youth?

Dream baby Jean. I wrote this song about my daughter but I knew it was God talking to America too.
Dream baby Jean
Dream about another time when you sat on my knee
Dream baby Jean
This change your takin,
is takin you from me.
You came in just like a whisper.
And now it's clear you fill your jeans
it's gonna be a hard thing on your Papa
To lose his baby Jean
Dream baby Jean
Dream about another time when you belonged to me
Dream baby jean
This change your takin,
is takin you from me.
Remember all the things we taught you.
About God and family
It's gonna be hard thing on your mama
to lose her Baby Jean.
God bless our soldiers and may he get them outta there!

this is a good start to a good country song but it needs more work to much dream baby jean! It flows together very well but just need some more catchy lines! This could be a beggining to a number one hit!
